CENTCOM claims Iran launched ballistic missiles targeting US forces in the Middle East. The US says all missiles were intercepted as regional tensions rise again.

Washington, July 29.Tensions between the United States and Iran have escalated once again after the US Central Command (CENTCOM) claimed that Iran launched multiple ballistic missiles targeting American military positions in the Middle East. According to the US military, the attack was successfully intercepted and no damage or casualties were immediately reported.

CENTCOM said the missiles were allegedly fired by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). In an official statement, the command said its air defence systems detected and intercepted all incoming missiles, preventing them from reaching US military installations. The US military also stated that its forces remain on high alert and are prepared to respond to any further escalation.

The latest development comes after a brief period of reduced military activity between Washington and Tehran, during which hopes had emerged for renewed diplomatic engagement. However, the reported missile launch has once again raised concerns over regional stability.

The Strait of Hormuz continues to remain a major point of tension between the two countries. The strategic waterway carries a significant share of the world's oil shipments, making any disruption a matter of global concern. Previous military confrontations in the region had already affected shipping activity and energy markets.

The renewed tensions also follow recent statements by US President Donald Trump regarding compensation for losses suffered by commercial vessels in the region. Iran has warned that any move affecting its interests could lead to restrictions on vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

At the time of publishing, there has been no independent verification of CENTCOM's claims, and Iranian authorities had not publicly responded to the specific allegations mentioned in the US statement.

The latest claims underline how quickly the security situation in the Middle East can change. Since the information currently comes from the US military's statement, further official responses and independent verification will be important before drawing firm conclusions. Diplomatic efforts remain essential to prevent a wider regional conflict.
